Whos is your Fav Author?

So, who is your favorite author? But, more importantly, why are they your favorite author?

We are all writers, so let's break down what it is they are doing in their writing that makes it so appealing. This is often more difficult to do with novels, as they cover much more material, so often, it is a cumulative effect that makes us appreciate the writing.

So, give it your best shot, and tell us about your favorite author's writng.

Right now it is Donna Leon, with her mystery series. I love mystery series. I love how she takes me to Venice, making me want to really go there. Even commerical writers can be good, as shown in this simple sentence. "Memory sank its teeth into his spirit and took him away with it." For some reason, it touched my soul.
