Lightning

Fri Dec 13, 2013 7:21 pm by queengoogoo

In the evening when the day is done
And no more is the light from the sun,
I look upon the stars Heaven high
And find gratefulness deep inside.
But then there are nights a storm rolls in,
And the twinkles disappear above the lightning.
The thunder accompanying the flash,
Lets me embrace the rain's splash.
These strikes pealing within the darkness
Makes me feel I have been blessed.
For there is …

Suggestions, Opinions?

Thu Mar 29, 2012 3:07 pm by cuthugas

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to see if anyone has anything to say now that you've had a chance to use the forum a bit.

Is there anything you don't like? Something you would like to see changed? This site gives us a lot of flexbility to modify just about everything you see, so if you can't stand something, or have a suggestion on how something should look/work, let us know.

Come On In

Post by Karen Nowviskie on Tue Feb 21, 2012 7:47 am

Hello, Everyone:

As you can see, I've used my real name, probably the bravest thing I've done in quite a while. I have a rather public position with a local school system, so I have been (more or less) a "secret" poet, posting poetry to a blog and sharing with virtual friends. Few of my real friends know I write.

Writing is like opening your head and heart and saying, "Come on in."

I'm nervously making that opening as I look forward to meeting you here.

Hello Karen!

My name is Craig. Glad to have you on board. We would love to read your poetry! I don't have a strong background in poetry, but will gladly read anything you wish to post.

If you want public and member opinion, you can just post under the general poetry section, or if you want it to be for WVW only, then post under the Members Only Poetry section.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Karen,

Glad to see you "coming out." It takes courage, and I'm pleased to see the first public tentative steps of a writer. Can't wait to see what you have to tell the world! Welcome to the "World." The wind can be cold at times, but it feels so good in my hair and against my skin that I'd never go back to hiding inside again.

Hello, Craig, Ginger, and Christina,

Thanks for welcoming me. I've been a WV Writers member for a couple of years, but because of work, I haven't been able to attend the confeerence. Since it looks as if we won't need to make up snow days this year, maybe I'll be able to attend. I'd really like to do that.

I'm posting a poem that was just published today in an on-line poetry site in the poetry section. Opening myself, as I said. It's a little frightening!

Hi, Karen. I think you and I have connected before online, haven't we? I'm kind of in the same place as you, both professionally and creatively, so shall we take some of these tentative steps together? Mutual support and encouragement--

Have you pointed us to your newly-published piece? Looking forward to it.

Higher ed--no blog (no time)--I think we connected not long after both of us joined the WVWriters' FB page. Am I making that up, perhaps? Perfectly possible. :-)
